Week 7 – 2013 London Marathon – mile building

Posted by DarrenG on November 25, 2012

Clean forgot to post a status update for week 5. I didn’t miss any runs I promise but, apart from the list of runs in Garmin Connect I can’t recall anything worth telling you all about, apologies!

However, this week has been very positive. I managed to beat my 5k PB on a 4 mile run on Thursday and decided I’de shoot for 8 miles today. I plotted a 4-mile out and back course through a local estate and this morning set out with drink bottle in hand. And then I returned because I;d forgotten my GPS watch, and then for the third time returned because I’d left the drink bottle!

When I did finally get out I found the first two miles very hard and the 8 mile target was looking rather hopeful. But I eventually got into my stride and felt pretty good at the 4 mile turnaround point. The return leg felt very good, I wasn’t struggling and began to enjoy the run, something I haven’t managed on a long run until now. With the last mile in sight I was able to find canadian pharmacy online ship to usa and pick up the pace a little and completed it in 1hr 30mins, with an average of 11mins 15secs a mile, a little slow but who cares, I ran 8 miles!

I’m running the 2013 London Marathon in support of the National Autistic Society. See my fundraising page here.
